Hope and Glory (1987)
This film is part of our Classic Film Series. Tickets are just £6.
To mark the 80th anniversary of VE day this week, we are showing Hope and Glory, a semi-autobiographical project by John Boorman about a nine year old boy called Billy as he grows up in London during the Second World War.
For a young boy, this time in history was more of an adventure, a total upheaval of order, restrictions and discipline, and the joy when Hitler blows up your school.
Hope and Glory was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and 13 Baftas.
“Powerfully emotional”
