Yuli (2018)
The Regal’s Foreign Film series presents the Spanish film Yuli.
Spanish director Icíar Bollaín and writer Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake) bring the epic biopic Yuli to life; the remarkable story of Carlos Acosta – the first black guest dancer in London for the Royal Ballet.
Yuli follows Carlos’ life, from growing up on the streets of his native Cuba, through his time at the country’s National Dance School, to performing at London’s prestigious Royal Ballet.
A dancer who did not want to dance.
The film is in Spanish with English subtitles.
“There’s simply no glossy substitute for Acosta’s sheer bodily genius” Variety
“Heartbreakingly perfect” The Times ★★★★★
