The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953)
One of the first British films to be made in colour, this classic Ealing comedy is about a group of villagers who, angered by the government’s decision to close their railway branch line, make a bid to run the service themselves.
With the help of the richest man in the village (Stanley Holloway) they soon come into conflict with the local bus company. Runaway trains and sabotage put the whole project in jeopardy.
