In London, Iris Simpkins receives the devasting news that her college and subject of her unrequited love, Jasper, is engaged.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, the successful Amanda Woods has just broken up with her unfaithful boyfriend Ethan and wants to get away from it all.

Through a house exchange website, Amanda impulsively swaps her mansion for Iris’ cottage in Surrey for the holidays.

The women get more out of the house swap them when they both meet charming local men.
