100th Anniversary: The General (1926) with Live Piano
In this very special screening, local composer and pianist, Andrew Harrison-King, is returning to The Regal to accompany the silent film, playing live in the cinema his original score written expressly for “The General” in this celebratory screening of the film’s 100th Anniversary.
One of the most revered comedies of the silent era, this film finds hapless Southern railroad engineer Johnny Gray (Buster Keaton) facing off against Union soldiers during the American Civil War.
When Johnny’s fiancée, Annabelle Lee (Marion Mack), is accidentally taken away while on a train stolen by Northern forces, Gray pursues the soldiers, using various modes of transportation in comic action scenes that highlight Keaton’s boundless wit and dexterity.
Please note that The General will have a short intermission.
