Academy Award-winning writer-director Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) has another Best Picture Oscar-nominee under her belt with Hamnet. The film tells the powerful love story that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, ‘Hamlet’.

Starring Paul Mescal (Aftersun, Gladiator II and Normal People) alongside Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose, Wicked Little Letters), Hamnet is set in 1580, England.

A poor Latin tutor by the, now world-famous, name of William Shakespeare meets free-spirited Agnes and the captivated pair strike up an affair that leads to marriage and three children.

Yet as Will pursues a budding theater career in far-away London, Agnes anchors their domestic world alone.

When tragedy strikes, the couple’s once-unshakable bond is tested, but their shared experience sets the stage for a work that will never be forgotten.
