Free Dawn Screening: 1917 (2020)
The Fordingbridge Regal Cinema Club’s Chairman Brian Currie is hosting a dawn screening of 1917 on Remembrance Sunday. There is no charge for this screening, however there will be a collection box for the Poppy Appeal.
From the Oscar-winning Director Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty) 1917 is an epic war film with an all-star cast made up of George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Claire Duburcq, with Colin Firth, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission.
In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers — Blake’s own brother among them.
Filmed in a single continuous shot, 1917 has been nominated for 3 Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture and Best Director, and is tipped to do well at the 2020 Academy Awards.
