50th Anniversary: Blazing Saddles - 4K (1974)

The Regal Cinema’s Classic Film Series presents Mel Brook’s Blazing Saddles. Tickets are just £6.

This screening of Blazing Saddles will feature the gloriously crisp, brand new 4K restoration that the film underwent for its recent 50th anniversary in 2024.

Blazing Saddles is director Mel Brook’s satirical take on Westerns. Brooks even said that he wanted to “use every Western cliché in the book and perhaps, if we were lucky, kill some of them in the process”.

Railroad worker Bart (Cleavon Little) becomes the first black sheriff of Rock Ridge, a frontier town about to be destroyed in order to make way for a new railroad.

Initially, the people of Rock Ridge harbor a racial bias towards their new leader. However, they soon warm to him after realizing that Bart and his perpetually drunk gunfighter friend (Gene Wilder) are the only defense against a wave of thugs sent to rid the town of its population.

“Stands next to Young Frankenstein as Brooks’ best movie”
