The Misfits (1961)
To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Marilyn Monroe, The Misfits is showing as part of our monthly Classic Film Series. Tickets are just £6.
Written by Marilyn Monroe’s third and final husband, Arthur Miller, director John Huston’s poignant western-drama was the last film for both Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe.
Marilyn Monroe stars as Roslyn who arrived in Nevada to secure the quick divorce available in that state. Soon after, she meets three men struggling to hold onto the dying Old West lifestyle who quickly fall in love with her; ageing cowboy Gaylord Langland (Clark Gable), his wingman Guido (Eli Wallach) and their rodeo-riding friend Perce (Montgomery Clift).
Roslyn must navigate the intense affection and competition from all three men, ultimately forcing them to confront their own flaws during a wild mustang roundup.
