The Runaways (2019)

The Runaways is an independent adventure film following three children, and their two donkeys, on an epic journey across the North York Moors. It was shot over six week in Whitby, the North York Moors, and the surrounding areas.

After their home life is turned upside down three children and the family’s donkeys escape Social Services by trekking across the backbone of Northern England, confronting both the harsh landscapes and what it means to be siblings.

The Runaways was written and directed by Richard Heap and stars Mark Addy (Game of Thrones, National Theatre Live), Tara Fitzgerald (Games of Thrones, Jane Eyre), Lee Boardman and child actors Molly Windsor, Rhys Connah and Macy Shackleton. The film won Best Feature at the Leeds Young People’s Film Festival.
