Russian Ark (2002)

The Regal Cinema Foreign Film monthly series presents the award winning Russian Ark.

Incredibly, Russian ark was shot in the Russian State Heritage Museum in one single, continuous take.

The film follows a 19th-century French aristocrat, notorious for his scathing memoirs about life in Russia, as he travels through the Hermitage Museum and encounters historical figures from the last 200 plus years.

History is brought to live in 33 rooms of the museum by over 2000 actors…including 3 live orchestras!

Russian Ark astounded critics who described it as “something between cinema and theatre”.

This film is in Russian with English subtitles.
