Pain and Glory (2019)

The Regal’s Foreign Film series presents the Oscar nominated Spanish film Pain and Glory.

Pain and Glory is a vivid portrait of a filmmaker confronting age-related anxieties.

The film follows the story of fictional film director, Salvador Mallo (Antonio Banderas) who is in the middle of a creative crisis. He begins reflecting on the choices he’s made in life as the past and present come crashing down around him.

Pain and Glory has been nominated for 2 Oscars; Best International Film and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Antonio Banderas).

The film has also been nominated for Golden Globes, BAFTAs and a further 100+ awards of which it has won an impressive 38 including 2 wins at Cannes Film Festival.
