2nd Birthday Event: Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

This is a special event at The Regal to celebrate our second birthday. Your ticket includes a drink of your choice and bar snacks/nibbles from 6:00pm. The film will start at 7:00pm.

Little Miss Sunshine is an heart-warming film about a dysfunctional family that will have you laughing out loud throughout. The film won two Oscars in 2007.

When 7 year old Olive Hoover (Abigail Breslin) learns that she’s qualified for the the Little Miss Sunshine pageant contest the entire family sets off in their unreliable VW camper van to make the long trip from Albuquerque to California.

The family includes her reasonably sane mother Sheryl (Toni Collette), her father Richard (Greg Kinnear) – a motivational speaker who is absolutely obsessed with winning, her brother Dwayne (Paul Dano) who is into Nietzsche and has taken a vow of silence (and hasn’t said a word in 9 months!), her grandpa Edwin Hoover (Alan Arkin) and her uncle Frank Ginsburg ( Steve Carell) who suffers with mental health issues.

The family face grief and hardship as they bicker along the way, doing their upmost to get Olive to the pageant on time; despite the knowledge that ice-cream-loving Olive isn’t the most…conventional… pageant ‘Little Miss’ contestant.

“A scrappy human comedy that takes an honest path to laughs and is twice as funny and touching for it” – Rolling Stone
