Our new model of Private Hire – everything you need to know

You can now book The Regal Cinema for your very own Private Hire

The time has come to share some information with you about our private hires. We have included everything we think you might need to know below but, as ever, you can always email us any additional questions you may have.

Support your local non-profit community cinema by booking a Private Hire
We hope you’ve missed the cinema as much as we’ve missed having you here! As you can imagine we have taken quite a hit during lockdown. We hope that Private Hires will prove popular as they will go some way to help us bounce back from the last few months! If you do have some friends and family who may be interested in joining you, or booking their own event, please consider booking a private screening with us.

Affordable pricing
We have drastically reduced the cost of Private Hires to £150 + a £20 cleaning charge. Members pay 20% less (£120 + the £20 cleaning charge).

As an example, if you have 15 people in attendance the cost works out at £10, or less, per head!

How will it work?
Our new model of Private Hires will see guests enter through the side bar door, one household at a time. They will be registered at the door by a volunteer and will then able to purchase any food and drinks from the bar and make their way into the auditorium for the film. The bar will be closed during the film.

Unlike with our previous model of Private Hires this new Covid-safe model requires that there is no mingling of guests from different households. Unfortunately you will not be able to mingle in the bar or foyer before or after a screening.

After the film guests will be asked to leave the auditorium row-by-row to avoid crowding. They will exit promptly through the front doors.

How many people can attend?
The Government has introduced a 50% capacity limit to indoor venues; including cinemas. This means that we are only allowed to have 15 people attend.

In order to maintain social distancing in the auditorium there must be one closed seat between each household.

What about the “rule of 6”?
We have been advised by the UK Cinema Association that our Private Hires can continue to go ahead so long as “no group of more than six can sit together and normal social distancing applies”.

We are still able to take Private Hire bookings because households are socially distanced from other households from the moment they arrive at our cinema. Our policy hasn’t changed because we were adhering to these rules already; households (of up to 6 people) must arrive, sit and exit separately.

What type of film can we watch?
You can watch any film in our existing library of 500+ films for no extra charge – including our new release films. If you have a particular film in mind, we can look into sourcing it for you; we would then charge you the cost price of your chosen film (usually between £8 and £20) in addition to the cost of the hire.

When can we book?
Private Hires are currently available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Face coverings
The Government has now made it compulsory* to wear face coverings in cinemas. Guests must wear a mask or face covering to enter the building, this can then be removed once everybody is seated in the auditorium once guests are socially distanced in order for you to eat or drink. You must put your face covering back on before leaving your seat at the end of a film or to use the facilities during the film.

*if you or any of your guests have a medical condition that prevents the wearing of a face covering you should advise us of this ahead of your Private Hire.

Covid-19 safety measures and cleaning
You can expect to see all the same Covid-19 safety measures in place that we would have for our public screenings in November. This will include (but not be limited to):

  • Staff and volunteers in PPE
  • Perspex screens at the bar
  • One-in-one-out system in the facilities
  • Track and trace system
  • Social distanced queuing and seating
  • Full professional clean between every hire and/or screening
  • Increased air flow in the auditorium
